      Mar 6

      We understand your challenges:

There is increasing recognition that the Australian workplace is changing in nature, and thus in the occupational health and safety conditions they create. The introduction of new technologies and materials, the increasing number of younger and older workers, and the workforce challenges encountered in Australia all add to the increasing complexity of a national workplace.

The Occupational Health and Safety Summit is the most effective way for Health and Safety executives to:

      • Spend quality interactive time with your peers along with exchanging ideas
      • Trade war stories and assess real-life best practice, pitfalls and innovations
      • Keep up with technology advances and find alternative solutions to your problems
      • Discuss and debate the challenges and prospects of this dynamic region
      • Get 1-1 with others in your vertical and situation, rather than generic overviews
      • Build your perfect agenda and customized program, tailored specifically to you

    1. Geelong Food & Wine (all-day)
      Mar 10 – Mar 11

The vibrant food and wine culture of the Greater Geelong region will be front and centre over the weekend of March 10-11 2012 with the staging of the inaugural Geelong Food and Wine Show.

Shining the limelight onto the region will be celebrity chef ambassador Melbourne boy-done-good George Calombaris plus dessert king Adriano Zumbo and the surfing chef Ben O’Donoghue.

Over the two days, Deakin Waterfront Campus will be transformed into a marketplace of chefs, providors and winemakers. More than 80 exhibitors will be presenting their produce, with a series Masterclasses run by George, Adriano and Ben, as well as local chefs, cheese makers and winemakers.

The Geelong Food and Wine show is part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, and acknowledges the importance of produce from the Geelong region to Melbourne’s food and wine culture. The Geelong region, stretching across the Bellarine, Moorabool Valley, Surf Coast, Otways and Western Victoria regions, is home to some of Victoria’s most revered wine and produce.

The show is also a great opportunity to sample the talent on flow with the booming local restaurant industry in one spot.

And no Geelong event would be complete without the city’s favourite footy players, so expect to see some familiar faces cooking up a storm over the weekend.

      Highlights of the program include:

      • Masterclasses with George Calombaris, Adriano Zumbo, and Ben O’Donoghue using local produce
      • Exclusive High Tea with Adriano Zumbo
      • Celebrity Cook-off with Ben O’Donoghue and Geelong Football Club players
      • The ultimate cheese experience showcasing the breadth of cheesemaking in the region
      • Wine appreciation classes hosted by local winemakers
      • Tasting from more than 80 regional producers, wineries and restaurateurs

The event is being supported by the City of Greater Geelong and Geelong Otway Tourism.

    2. Taste of the Huon, Tasmania (all-day)
      Mar 11 – Mar 12

‘A Taste of the Huon’, now in its 20th year, is a celebration of fine food, wine, entertainment, arts and crafts from the Huon Valley and Channel region – held at Ranelagh which is only 30 minutes scenic drive south of Hobart.

This region produces an abundance of apples and although Tasmania is still recognised as the ‘Apple Isle’, cherries, mushrooms, salmon, vineyards, berries and truffles are also farmed in the area and along with much more, promoted at the Festival.

Entertainment is at its very best and each year there is a new programme. And most importantly there will be loads of attractions to keep the children occupied.

This Festival is one of the most popular regional events in Tasmania and draws over 20,000 local, intrastate and interstate visitors through its 2 day programme. This event is run by a voluntary committee with proceeds being injected back into the community via funding of groups who volunteer on the day.

The Huon Valley, D’entrecasteaux Channel and Bruny Island regions of Tasmania are now being recognised as one of Tasmania’s leading tourist destinations. Why not extend your stay? Tell your friends that you have experienced the exhilaration of climbing Hartz Peak or driven to Australia’s southern most point – Cockle Creek.

Tasmania’s renowned Huon Trail winds through this region and as such it has become synonymous with fine food and wines which can be found in the abundant cafes, restaurants, wineries and farms that are scattered amongst the rolling hills and along the stunning Huon River.

    1. Heston Blumenthal Live
      6:00 pm – 11:00 pm

Heston Blumenthal returns to Australia in 2012 for his first national tour of exclusive, “one night only” events, live on stage in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. And for the first time the tour will include New Zealand with Heston live on stage at the AOTEA Centre, Auckland.

This enthralling evening will focus on Heston’s unique philosophy and approach to cooking, exploring taste and flavour, and his passion for the multi-sensory experience of eating and drinking.

The chef of the three Michelin starred Fat Duck Restaurant in the UK and star of Heston’s Feasts and the Mission Impossible TV series will demonstrate his philosophies through live scientific experiments on stage.

Grilled by a guest host, Heston will take us on a journey from humble beginnings to the creation of iconic dishes such as ‘The Sound of the Sea’ with edible sand, logic defying Hot and Iced Tea, his famous Snail Porridge and the epic Mock Turtle Soup that takes three days to make.

Get the inside story on Heston’s incredibly moist Christmas puddings with a candied Valencia orange inside which were so popular they sold out in the UK’s Waitrose supermarkets in moments with bidding wars on ebay. As it cooks, the essential oils from the orange peel infuse the pudding from the inside out. Now Heston has created a minced pie that promises to make the house smell like a Christmas tree.

Join Heston on a journey searching the archives at Hampton Court for historic British recipes which inspired the creation of new dishes for ‘Dinner by Heston Blumenthal’ in Knightsbridge, which has just been be awarded its first Michelin star after only nine months in operation.

There is only one Heston and there is only one night in each city.
