Tamarind Restaurant Wins State Award

20 October 2009 No Comment

Cairns restaurant Tamarind was presented with the award for Best Prestige Restaurant at the 2009 Queensland Hotel Association (QHA) awards.
The QHA award is Tamarind’s second in recent months, the restaurant winning its second consecutive award in the category of Best Fine Dining at the 2009 Restaurant and Catering Queensland Awards in July.
Located at the five-star Pullman Reef Casino Hotel, the restaurant shared its QHA award success with the Pullman hotel, a finalist in the Best Deluxe Hotel Accommodation category at the black tie awards ceremony.
Pullman General Manager Adrian Williams says the QHA prestige restaurant award win is a terrific acknowledgement for Tamarind’s entire team and their tireless efforts.
“Tamarind is impossible to look past in terms of an international flagship restaurant for not only Cairns, but the entire state of Queensland,” Mr Williams said.
“We’re an established restaurant, but that essentially works in our favour. Our Head Chef Paul Bowell has the freedom to be truly innovative – a quality displayed in Tamarind’s menus which are always fresh with inspiring new recipes alongside tried and true favourites. I think that this is the secret to maintaining our appeal with both new and loyal diners alike.”
Tamarind offers a contemporary fusion of Asian and Western Cuisine created with the best local produce that North Queensland has to offer. Thai artefacts and exotic décor add to the experience, creating an ambient atmosphere for guests.
More than 300 nominations were received for this year’s 17th annual Awards for Excellence. Tamarind is now automatically a finalist in the Australian Hotels Association (AHA) National Awards for Excellence which will be held in 2010
