Hospitality students looking to launch a career in international travel can now enrol in a new course which combines traditional hospitality industry training with aircraft cabin crew skills.
The Diploma of Hospitality Management and Certificate II in Aviation Flight Operations (Cabin Crew) is the result of a partnership between Brisbane-based Hospitality Training Association Inc. (HTA) and Aviation Australia.
Through the partnership, students will complete a Diploma in Hospitality Management at HTA and a Certificate II in Aviation Flight Operations (Cabin Crew) at Aviation Australia’s purpose-built training facility located at the Brisbane International Airport.
HTA CEO Phillip Charlton said the course was the ideal course for students wanting a career in the aviation industry.
“For potential students wishing for a career in the world of aviation, one of the cornerstones of the hospitality and tourism industries, this program can provide the ultimate travel adventure offering a new and exciting challenge around every corner,” he said.
“Whether you are looking to have a career flying with one of the world’s greatest airlines or perhaps climb the corporate ladder within the aviation, hospitality or tourism industry, this course will equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed.
“Students who enrol in this program will spend time at both the Hospitality Training Association Inc. and Aviation Australia in order to complete the course.
“At HTA you will gain a firm grounding in all aspects of hospitality and develop theoretical and practical skills and knowledge in customer service, conflict resolution, workplace health and safety, food and beverage, front office, culinary arts, finance, accounting, administration, human resources, law and marketing.
“Then training switches to Aviation Australia where core skills are taught required by airlines for flight attendants plus subjects such as airline employment, safety procedures, aircraft cabin and gallery services, airline security and customer service.”
As part of the specialised training components students will have to engage in real life scenarios using a cabin simulator, a slide-descent concourse, a ditching pool for practicing water-based emergencies and a fully equipped fire-training cabin.
The Diploma of Hospitality Management and Certificate II in Aviation Flight Operations (Cabin Crew) is offered over four semesters and includes paid hospitality internships and aviation work experience.
